I am dedicated to the academic success of my students, but believe that as an educator, it is my responsibility to strengthen their integrity and promote the growth of their character.
I am confident that my experiences, gained through a plethora of perspectives, will be an asset to your school. As a relief facilitator, I became familiar with youth experiencing severe behavioral and emotional difficulties. My communication skills heightened as I learned the value of understanding the individual needs and history of children. As a Special Education Aide for Adaptable Behavior, I learned to develop imaginative lesson plans that promoted students’ ability to communicate with the world around them on a socially acceptable level. This position presented me a firsthand glimpse into designing lesson plans for a classroom environment based exclusively on Individual Education Plans and Behavioral Intervention Plans. For several years, I taught Social Studies, World Cultures, Texas History, and U.S. History. World Cultures stressed teaching students how to stretch knowledge of their environment outside local boundaries. Texas History concentrated students on their local boundaries and history. United States History focused lesson planning on Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills and dissecting test data. Working in the capacity of a campus coordinator granted opportunities to lead colleagues in implementing aspects of change aimed
at improving student morale, interest and appreciation; while, building a bridge of trust between the school and community. All of these experiences forged my identity as a dedicated, conscientious educator.
